CHICAGO _ Patrick Kane and former Blackhawks teammate Artemi Panarin put on a show Saturday night, but Blue Jackets goalie Sergei Bobrovsky stole the spotlight.
Bobrovsky, a two-time Vezina Trophy winner, made countless spectacular saves while stopping 39 shots to lead the Blue Jackets to a 5-2 over the Hawks at the United Center.
Kane scored his 35th goal and added an assist, while Panarin topped him with a pair of goals _ his 23rd and 24th _ and an assist.
With the loss, the Hawks remained three points behind the Wild and trailed three other teams in the race for the second wild-card spot in the Western Conference.
The Blue Jackets jumped in front on Pierre-Luc Dubois' goal with 7 minutes, 24 seconds left in the first period. Kane tied it on a power-play goal a few minutes later, but it took the Blue Jackets 17 seconds to go back in front on Panarin's first goal.
Cam Atkinson's 31st goal for the Blue Jackets with 38 seconds remaining made it 3-1 after one period.
The Hawks were flying throughout the second period, peppering Bobrovsky with 20 shots. But they weren't able to score until the final minute, when Kane and Erik Gustafsson assisted on Jonathan Toews' 27th goal to make it 3-2.
The momentum didn't carry over into the third, with Panarin tipping in Seth Jones' shot from the blue line 12 seconds into the period to restore the Blue Jackets' two-goal advantage.
Kane's goal extended his point streak to 17 games, and his helper extended his franchise record to 16 consecutive games with an assist.
