A former Auxiliary Bishop Emeritus of Liverpool has died with Covid-19 this morning.
Vincent Malone lost his life after contracting the coronavirus at the age of 89 last week.
The current Bishop of Liverpool, Paul Bayes, paid his respects to Bishop Vincent.
He wrote: "Giving thanks to God for the life of RC Bishop Vincent Malone, auxiliary-emeritus of Liverpool, who has died.
"May he rest in peace and rise in glory."

The Bishop was trained for priesthood at St Joseph's College in Liverpool before he was ordained as a priest at St Oswald's Church in 1955.
He became a chaplain at the University of Liverpool after spending a number of years teaching at Cardinal Allen Grammar School.
In 1979 he became the administrator of the Metropolitan Cathedral.
On May 13, 1989 he was made the Titular Bishop of Abora and the Auxiliary Bishop of Liverpool.
He resigned in October 2006, shortly after his 75th birthday.
A statement from the Archdiocese of Liverpool added: "It is with great sadness that the death is announced of the Right Reverend Vincent Malone, Auxiliary Bishop Emeritus of Liverpool and Titular Bishop of Abora.
"May he rest in peace."
