Ex-Arsenal defender Calum Chambers fired a subtle dig towards Tottenham after helping current side Aston Villa to a big win at the weekend.
Goals from Emiliano Buendia and Douglas Luiz earned a memorable victory for the Midlands outfit on Sunday afternoon in North London. It also allowed Unai Emery to continue his excellent early promising form since being appointed as Steven Gerrard's successor.
Following the full-time whistle, Chambers took to Twitter with his thoughts on the game using a somewhat infamous saying that is a regular feature when Arsenal and Tottenham come together in the North London Derby. He wrote: "North London is…. Claret. Happy new year!! #UTV."
That post then accompanied both a winky and laughing emoji as the defender took aim at Spurs. Chambers, 27, was an Arsenal player for over seven years having joined from Southampton in 2014.
He went on to represent the Gunners on 122 occasions in all competitions before electing to bid farewell to the Emirates Stadium last January. While the defender was left delighted come the final whistle at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, the same cannot quite be said of Spurs boss Antonio Conte.
Their defeat, already their fifth of the campaign, leaves the North Londoners sitting fifth and already 13 points behind table-topping Arsenal having played a game more. Conte emphasised the need for further investment in his side if there are hopes for Spurs to establish themselves at the top of the table amid "crazy" title claims.

Speaking in his post-match press conference, he said: "I was very clear with the club and in the summer people spoke about Tottenham as title contenders. From my experience, it was a bit crazy to read this but you have to accept this.
"To become title contenders you need a solid foundation, 14-15 strong quality players and the young players to develop and every season you can add two players, but two players to invest £60m, £70m players to improve the level of your team.
"People think that you arrive and you win in this way. If people are not used to this you need to create this situation, you need time and patience."
Spurs will now aim to get back on track in their next Premier League assignment in a couple of days’ time against Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park. In the meantime, Villa will be hoping to continue their impressive turnaround under Emery as they tackle domestic rivals Wolves at Villa Park on Wednesday evening.
The Midlands outfit now sit 12th in the current standings following their win against Spurs but could rise into the top half with a victory.
