Forget glitter, this festival season it's all about body marbling

Glitter roots and rainbow face paint are ideal festival looks. That is, until you try to put it into practice in the middle of a muddy field and end up a sweat-soaked hot mess set to spend the next fortnight picking bits of sparkle out of your hair.

This summer’s festival beauty headliner, however, is set to be a bigger crowd-pleaser than Kylie as UV body marbling takes centre stage.

Revellers bound for BoomTown this week (August 7-11) to see Lauryn Hill and The Streets should also put a visit to the Desperados Paintworks pop-up to the top of their schedule, where you can deck yourself in psychedelic body art faster than you can say “mine’s a tequila-laced beer” (which, by the way, is free with the service).

Simply submerge a body part – arms are the norm, but experimentation is always encouraged – into a tub filled with vegan-friendly organic paints and hey presto! You’ve got yourself a full sleeve of ink without the pain or morning-after regret.

What’s more, once the sun sets and the night begins, the kaleidoscopic patterns will glow neon-bright for an effect which looks cool AF while simultaneously minimising the risk of losing all your mates the second you leave the bar.

Paintworks at BoomTown (Desperados)

Later this month, Paintworks will also be popping up at Elrow London in Enfield’s Trent Park on August 17 and Clapham’s South West Four Festival on August 24-25.
