Forensic officers were spotted scouring a Milngavie street as part of an 'ongoing enquiry'.
Several police cars and specialist officers were seen on South Mains Road, close to Lennox Park at around 4pm today.
Police tape was put in place whilst officers searched the area.
Concerned locals took to Facebook to find out what was going on.
One woman said: "I saw two police with blue gloves and a bag bag collecting evidence before 4pm."
Another said: "I passed at 4ish and they had tape up then and a couple of officers plus a flashing squad car."
A spokesperson for Police Scotland said: "Officers have carried out a search of an area at South Mains Road in Milngavie in relation to an ongoing enquiry.
"The search has now been stood down and enquiries are ongoing."
