For the record

An article (“Cast out but not alone: why Corbyn won’t fade gently into the night”, 8 October, p36) said that the Labour party’s Islington North constituency chairwoman, Alison McGarry, had “hosted” an event at which the MP Jeremy Corbyn was made honorary president of Islington Trades Union Council. While McGarry spoke at the event, she did not host it, nor did she have any role in the decision to award the title.

Greg Smith is the MP for Buckingham, not Buckinghamshire as we said (“Sunak plans to restrict new solar panel projects on farms”, 8 October, p15).

An article began by describing a “scenic view” from Paris’s Métro line 7. That should have been Métro line 5; line 7 runs entirely underground (“Can Paris clean up the Seine in time for next year’s Olympics?”, 8 October, New Review, p18).

The same piece referred to an outbreak of sickness among swimmers who competed in the World Triathlon Championship Series at Sunderland’s Roker beach in July; while E coli was, as mentioned, detected near the swim site shortly before the event, we ought to have clarified that a report from the UK Health Security Agency had since found norovirus was the “most likely” cause of the illness.
