A piece on celebrations in Barking, east London to mark the Queen’s birthday (early editions, 12 June) said local resident Joyce Cracknell had been a Labour supporter all her life but omitted to mention that she stood unsuccessfully as a Ukip candidate in local elections in 2014 (“Bunting is out but in Barking people are voting for Brexit”, News, page 3).
A Dispatch from Reykjavik on Iceland’s hopes in the Euro 2016 tournament said correctly that the small nation has more Uefa-licensed football coaches per capita than any nation, but the total is 650, not 850. And Iceland has 200 outdoor artificial pitches, not 300 (“It will be a great time to be a tourist here”, News, 29 May, page 2).
The film Fire at Sea is set on the island of Lampedusa, 127 miles south of Sicily, which we claimed incorrectly was also the location for Luca Guadagnino’s A Bigger Splash. That film was made on Pantelleria, about 100 miles to the north (New Review, 12 June, page 26).
