Footage shows massive queues as Decathlon opens first Irish store in Ballymun, Co Dublin

Hordes of people queued in Ballymun this morning as Decathlon opened its first Irish store.

The famous sports retailer, which has previously attempted to open in Ireland twice, has finally finished its €13million flagship shop.

The massive store, which opened at 10.30am on Saturday morning, has a staff of 95 people.

It will apply strict hygiene and social distancing measures, as throngs of people flocked for the grand opening.

And despite the size of the store, just 150 people will be allowed in at any one time, including staff.

Ireland becomes the 58th country where the business has opened.

It employs 92,000 people over 1,600 outlets across the globe.
