Footage of twisted murderer Christopher Graham shows him casually walking away from the scene of his gruesome crime.
CCTV played during his trial captures him on his way from Simon Bowman's flat in Jarrow to be picked up by a taxi, leaving behind his badly mutilated body.
Walking down the street with a bag of belongings, which prosecutors suspect may also have contained the murder weapons, the footage then cuts to Graham in a shop.
He is facing a life sentence after jurors at Newcastle Crown Court found him guilty of murdering the 54-year-old grandfather in May.
Another clip shows the two former friends in a shop hours before Graham killed Mr Bowman.
There was no sign of the horror that was to come as they select some drinks in the store.
Graham would go on to inflict more than 100 injuries of Mr Bowman, including cutting off his fingers and toes, stoving his face in with a hammer and cutting his throat when he was already dead.
He was warned he faces a life sentence after jurors took less than 45 minutes to find him guilty of murder.
Graham, 30, will find out what the minimum term he must serve will be when he is sentenced on January 31.
