Footage shows daredevil BASE jumpers leaping from Cuillin Ridge on Skye

A clip posted on social media shows the heart stopping moment three daredevil BASE jumpers leap from the Cuillin Ridge on the Isle of Skye.

Shot using an FPV drone, the dramatic footage follows the trio as they climb to the top of the Inaccessible Pinnacle before throwing themselves off.

Stunningly close to the cliff face as they fall, they quickly pull their parachutes before sailing off into the distance to land safely.

The team of three BASE Jumpers and a drone camera man took just 90 minutes to reach the peak.

The conditions were so good, that one of the members, who did not wish to be named, stated that they decided not to take a harness or rope for the climb.

Explaining about the jump, the team said that no-one had ever attempted a BASE jump on the Cuillin mountains before and that they'd been planning the attempt for a while, they said: "It’s very iconic also making it a popular Munro to bag, however it’s probably the most technical.

"We’ve been planning this jump for a couple years, because it’s such an iconic place.

"Unfortunately, we couldn’t find a suitable exit on the In Pinn itself, so we jumped from a new exit 50m further along the Cuillin Ridge."

Described as one of the most difficult Munros to climb by website WalkHighlands, the Inaccessible Pinnacle is the second highest summit in the Skye Cuillin.

Rising dramatically from the summit of Sgurr Dearg, it offers stunning views of the whole island.

The experienced group who are part of the MountainManBASE team explained that the draw of the island, stating they have jumped several other cliffs on Skye, they said: "It’s such a beautiful part of the world with so many different stunning rock features, which make a great play ground for us to explore and attempt new BASE jumps."
