Foden and Sane in, Sterling dropped - Man City XI that fans want to see vs Burnley

Five days after they kicked off the restart of their season, Man City are back in action tonight (Monday) as they take on Burnley at the Etihad Stadium.

A 3-0 win over Arsenal in their last outing on Wednesday was the perfect restart for Pep Guardiola’s men. Goals from Raheem Sterling, Kevin De Buyne, and Phil Foden gave City the comfortable win.

With Liverpool drawing against Everton on Sunday, the game gives Man City the chance to close the gap on the Reds at the top of the table and delay the inevitable title win by another couple of games.

Ahead of the match against Burnley, the MEN gave City fans the chance to pick their preferred starting X I, and here is the team they came up with.

Unsurprisingly, Ederson has been chosen in goal, with only injury and suspension keeping him out of the starting XI so far this season.

In defence, the injury Eric Garcia suffered against Arsenal will keep him out for the game as he recovers from concussion. Fans have picked Nicolas Otamendi to partner Aymeric Laporte in central defence in his place.

Kyle Walker and Benjamin Mendy retain their place in the full-back roles.

David Silva and Ilkay Gundogan were given the nod in midfield against Arsenal, however, with so many matches on the horizon, fans have opted for Rodri and Foden to replace the duo, with Foden having come on to make an impact and score the third goal against the Gunners. Kevin De Bruyne was in impressive form against Arsenal and retains his place in midfield.

In the more attacking areas, fans have chosen Leroy Sane to line up on the left in place of Raheem Sterling with Riyad Mahrez keeping his place on the right.

Gabriel Jesus was selected ahead of Sergio Aguero for the Arsenal match, but City fans would like to see the Argentinian be drafted into the starting XI against Burnley where he will be hoping to add to his 16 league goals so far this season.

City fans’ starting XI : Ederson; Walker, Laporte, Otamendi, Mendy; Foden, Rodri, De Bruyne; Mahrez, Sane; Aguero.
