Floyd Mayweather opponent drags Conor McGregor into row following fight riot

Floyd Mayweather's opponent John Gotti III has called on Conor McGregor for "back up" after his brawl with the boxing legend.

Mayweather and Gotti, who is primarily known for being the grandson of notorious New York mob boss John Gotti, met in an un-scored exhibition fight in Miami on Sunday night but the event was overshadowed by a raucous post-fight brawl. Gotti was disqualified by referee Kenny Bayliss in the sixth round but that didn't stop him from continuing to throw punches at his opponent.

Mayweather remained calm as Gotti charged towards him, with the teams of the two fighters proceeding to get in the ring and brawl with each other. The ugly scenes carried on backstage as Gotti's father John II was also spotted by Mirror Fighting amongst the chaos. Gotti went on to address the brawl in a rare string of social media posts.

"Punk b****, you my enemy for life," Gotti wrote on Instagram whilst also tagging Mayweather in footage from the brawl. "[ Conor McGregor ], we need back up. Bum never put me down or stopped me it was a DQ for no reason." McGregor shared the ring with Mayweather in their illustrious 2017 'money fight', with Mayweather winning by stoppage in a bout that went on to become the second highest-selling pay-per-view in boxing history.

The extent of the injuries that occurred as a result of the brawls is currently unclear. The scuffle in the ring also extended to the crowd as fans could be seen throwing punches at each other. The FLA Live Arena was then cleared out by local police, who threatened charges for any bystanders who did not leave the venue immediately.

Mayweather and Gotti's fight was the only mad moment of the evening, as the undercard saw the likes of ex-UFC fighter Hector Lombard and Anthony Joshua's former rival Jarrell Miller also in action. 45-year-old Lombard took on Eric Turner in a bare-knuckle clash with both fighters being dropped as Lombard went on to get the win.

Disgraced drugs cheat Miller weighed three stone heavier than his opponent Antonio Zepeda despite being the shorter of the two. 'Big Baby' made quite the entrance as he rapped his own ring walk, but the fun didn't carry over to the actual fight as the American and Zepeda were booed out of the building after their fight concluded.
