A southside florist has told of the horrifying moment a thug smashed up her shop in a "mindless and malicious" attack.
Floral Haven boss Shaheen Khan tells how she and her terrified staff screamed as they watched a masked man break the windows and door with a hammer before fleeing the scene in a car last night.
The team were working late fulfilling Christmas orders in the back room when they heard banging and the sound of shattering glass at around 8:30pm.
Shaheen told Glasgow Live: "We were terrified – we thought he was going to come inside.
"He repeatedly smashed each window and door until it broke completely. It was mindless and malicious. I have no idea why they wanted to target a flower shop.
"We sometimes leave the door open for fresh air, but thankfully it was closed. Otherwise he could have done far more damage."
Shaheen said one of the male members of staff ran out to see the man getting into a waiting car, which sped off and ran a red light.
She said Floral Haven has been a much-loved fixture in the local community for 20 years.
"Pollokshields is a nice area. We are well-established and well-respected around here," Shaheen said. "We have the nicest customers and we've never had any problems. I can't think why someone would do this."
She added: "I just want to get through my orders, carry on as normal and let the police do their job. I'm not letting this put me off. It's a busy time for us and we've got work to do."
Police Scotland have been contacted for comment.
