Florence + The Machine fans have been left devastated after the band were forced to cancel their appearance at Manchester’s AO Arena on Tuesday, November 22. It comes after a statement released by the frontwoman Florence Welch revealed she’d sustained an injury.
The blow comes midway through the band’s tour, which started in Paris on November 14, visiting all UK major cities including Manchester, with two nights at The O2 in London before finishing in Dublin on November 30.
Florence said it’s ‘not in her nature’ to postpone a show but a broken foot has left her with no choice. The Dog Days Are Over singer said she was left ‘heartbroken’ advising fans to ‘hang on to your tickets’.
A statement posted to social media from the band’s account read: “I’m so sorry to say that after an x ray it seems I was dancing on a broken foot last night.
“It is not in my nature to postpone a show, and certainly not a UK tour, but I’m in pain and as dancers know, dancing on an injury is not a good idea. And have been told not to perform to avoid further damage.
“Please hang on to your tickets. We are working our hardest to reschedule these dates for next year and we will let you know as soon as possible. I’m heartbroken as the Dance Fever tour has been my favourite show we have ever put on. The communion with you. Your beautiful faces shining.
“I love you so much, I’m so sorry to anyone who is disappointed. My heart is aching. I can’t wait to be back on my feet and back in your arms. X x”
The post was accompanied by a photo of a blood-splattered stage where Florence had performed.
AO Arena added: “This show is being rescheduled, new date will be confirmed soon. Please hold on to tickets. News on the dates being rescheduled will be available in the next few days.”
Tickets for the Autumn 2022 tour went on sale on March 25, 2022, celebrating the release of Florence + The Machine's fifth studio album, Dance Fever, which came out in May. Fans are being advised to sit tight and wait for the announcement of a new Manchester date.
