A flood warning has been issued this evening for the area between Ayr to Troon.
The Scottish Environmental Protection Agency (SEPA) issued the warning saying that a combination of high tides and prevailing weather conditions means that flooding from the sea “is expected.”
The agency has warned that the hotspots include low lying land, roads, and properties along the coastline from Ayr to Troon.
Worryingly, flooding in and around low-lying parts of Ayr, Prestwick and Troon “is possible” they say.
Any flooding impacts are expected around the time of high tide tonight between 6pm and 10pm.
A SEPA spokesperson said: “Minor flooding impacts are likely across much of the country today with the south west particularly affected. Expect flooding of low-lying land, infrastructure and impacts to travel from small watercourse and surface water flooding.
"Remain vigilant and remember, it is your responsibility to take actions which help protect yourself and your property.”
