Flooding, a collision on the M60 and a broken down van - these are the problems affecting Greater Manchester's roads this morning

Drivers are facing delays on Greater Manchester’s roads this morning as strong winds and heavy rain batters the region.

Two lanes of the M60 are currently closed following an accident near Heaton Park.

Traffic is queueing in the area following the three-car smash on the clockwise carriageway at junction 19, near Heaton Park Three Arrows Roundabout.

Further south, on the M6 at Cheshire, one lane is closed and traffic is slow due to an accident at the Thelwall Viaduct northbound.

This is from junction 20 at Lymm Interchange to junction 21 at Manchester Road, Woolston. One lane is closed and strong winds have also been reported in the area.

Also on the M6, traffic is queueing after a van broke down on the M6 northbound carriageway at Wigan.

This is from junction 27 at Crow Orchard Road in Standish to Charnock Richard Services.

All lanes were reopened at 7.35 am after traffic was temporarily held.

Meanwhile, further up the M6 in Lancashire, a lane is closed due to flooding.

This is on the southbound carriageway from junction 28 at Leyland to junction 27 at Standish.

Traffic is said to be coping well.
