PHETCHABUN: Highway 21 between Saraburi and Lomsak was reopened to all traffic on Monday morning after being closed by heavy flooding.

The road between kilometres 113-116 at Moo 3 village in tambon Phu Toei in Wichian Buri district was 90 centimetres under water on Sunday, making it impassable to all vehicles.

Chanwit Chanphap, director of the 2nd Phetchabun Highway Office, said the water level on the flooded section began to drop after midnight. Large vehicles were then allowed to pass.

The highway was fully re-opened at 5am on Monday.

Highway 2272  between Na Sanun and Wichian Buri) had also been damaged. Soldiers from the 8th Engineering Battalion had installed a prefabricated iron bridge over the washed-out  part. Only small small vehicles were allowed across it.

Highway 2219 between Si Thep intersection and Si Thep Historical Park and Highway 2219 between Mo Din Daeng and the Historical Park were still flooded and not passable, Mr Chanwit said.
