People in Merseyside are being warned of high winds and ‘potential overtopping of waves’ in a flood warning.
An official flood warning was issued in parts of Merseyside last night after tides were 'higher than usual' and strong winds battered the region.
Areas that were affected most by the strong winds included Marine Point Leisure and Retail Park and properties on King's Parade and Marine Promenade, both in New Brighton, Wirral.

The flood warning was issued at 7.17pm as a precautionary measure due to the risk of 'potential overtopping of waves' at Wallasey Embankment and Kings Parade caused by very strong winds.
This morning, the status of the warning remains as 'flooding expected' on the official government website and people are asked to be careful along beaches, promenades, coastal footpaths and roads as large waves and sea spray could be dangerous.
As a result of the high tides and warning last night Coastal Road was closed.
The incident response staff are closely monitoring the situation and will issue further flood warnings if necessary.
Images and footage captured from the area show the strong waves reaching height before breaking against the tidal wall and pouring over onto New Brighton Promenades.
Rebecca Koncienzcy witnessed the scene in New Brighton last night and said she has never seen the waves "so big and the sea so violent".
She told the ECHO: "I thought it was unusual to see a flood warning for New Brighton but with the high tides and strong winds the waves looked apocalyptic.
“We were in our car well back at a safe distance and could still feel the spray from the water crashing into the wall and flooding the promenade."
Flood warnings were also issued for other parts of Merseyside around the same time last night, though they were at a much lower risk of any potential flooding.
A flood warning for the Irish Sea from New Brighton to Hoylake was issued with people told the high tide is expected to be 'higher than usual' as a result of high spring tides and strong winds.
The official warning stated: “We believe there is a possibility of flooding for low lying land and roads at the head of the Wirral from Hoylake to New Brighton, including parts of Leasowe and Wallasey.
“A flood warning is expected to be issued for Irish Sea at New Brighton as a precautionary measure due to potential waves overtopping at Wallasey Embankment and Kings Parade, caused by very strong winds.
A further warning for the Mersey Estuary from Liverpool and Wirral to Widnes was put in place as the area was also at risk of a higher tide than usual.
The alert was issued based on levels reported in Hale Village and the warning said there was a ‘strong possibility for low lying land and roads around the Mersey Estuary’ to flood.
