Flights to Tenerife see huge price drop for 2022 with fares from £34 each way

Brits hoping to hit Tenerife's best beaches this summer are in luck, as the holiday hotspot has seen one of the biggest price drops for flights in 2022.

In fact, cheap flights to Tenerife are up to 74% cheaper compared to last year, with fares available from £34 each way according to new research by travel search engine KAYAK.

It's flights to Santa Cruz de Tenerife specifically which have seen the drop in fares, making it an ideal time to book a getaway to the largest of the Canary Islands.

The Canary Islands are currently open to Brits for holidays, and there's more good news for families as the hotspots just ended their local Covid restrictions, which includes lifting restrictions on venue capacities and once again allowing revellers to dance in bars and nightclubs.

To visit the Canaries you'll need to meet the same entry rules in place for mainland Spain.

Under Spain's latest travel rules, fully vaccinated UK travellers can visit for holidays without needing to test or undergo quarantine. Visitors who are unvaccinated will need to be able to show proof of recovery from Covid.

The rules apply to anyone aged 12 or over, which was originally an issue for families with unvaccinated teens. However, Spain has since updated its rules to allow unvaccinated teens aged 12-17 to visit, provided they have a negative PCR test result and are travelling with vaccinated adults.

Anyone travelling to Spain, regardless of vaccination status, will also be required to fill out a pre-travel form and obtain a QR code to show at border control.

Tenerife isn't the only destination to have seen a major price drop compared to last year. Malaga has also proven to become more budget-friendly with flight prices dropping by 73% - and according to KAYAK there are fares going from £15 each way to the Spanish city.

Top 5 destinations with price drops

  1. Santa Cruz de Tenerife by 74% with fares from £34
  2. Malaga, Spain by 73% with fares from £15
  3. Larnaca, Cyprus by 63% with fares from £44
  4. Faro, Portugal by 58% with fares from £22
  5. Rome, Italy by 51% with fares from £23
