Flights cancelled and planes diverted at Scottish airport

FLIGHTS to and from a Scottish airport have been diverted and cancelled on Tuesday due to “adverse weather”.

A Loganair flight to Stornoway Airport had to U-turn back to Glasgow this morning after it was unable to land.

Data from the website Flightradar24 shows that the LM470 Loganair flight departed Glasgow at 7am, and was scheduled to arrive at the Isle of Lewis airport at 8am.

However, the flight instead circled Stornoway before being diverted back to the mainland, where it then landed in Glasgow.

Loganair’s LM343 flight from Edinburgh was due to land at the island airport at 8:25am on Tuesday but was also diverted back to the capital after it was unable to land.

A spokesperson for Highland and Islands Airports Limited, which operates Stornoway Airport, confirmed that the disruption was weather-related.

Two Loganair departures from Stornoway to Glasgow and Inverness were also cancelled.

A spokesperson for Highland and Islands Airports Limited, the firm which operates Stornoway Airport, said the flights were diverted due to adverse weather.

They said: “We can confirm that this morning's schedule at Stornoway Airport has been impacted by adverse weather.

“Passengers are advised to contact their airlines for travel updates.”
