Flight attendant explains why travellers should never wear shorts on a plane

Unless you're a massive enthusiast, it's likely there are some aspects of air travel you struggle with.

Maybe it's the sub-par food, the fact that planes are always freezing, or the inevitable times you end up sitting next to a badly behaved passenger.

Drunks, people that take their shoes off, those without any spatial awareness - there are truly some characters you really don't fancy ending up next to.

But it turns out - there are some bigger issues we should be considering before taking to the skies.

It's probably not something many of us had considered - but apparently, it's a great idea.

Flight attendant Tommy Cimato shared the top five things he thinks we should all know about air travel etiquette - and people were hooked.

He said: "Do not ever touch the flush button with your bare hands. It's honestly just super unsanitary and pretty gross so when you flush, use a napkin or tissue that's in the lavatory.

"Don't forget to drink water. Stay hydrated. You wanna have about 16oz for every flight you go on, so keep that in mind.

"Do not fall asleep or lean your head on the window. You are not the only that has done that and you don't know how many people or children have wiped their hands or other things all over the window.

"Don't or try not to wear shorts when you're on an aeroplane. It's the same thing as the window, you never know how clean it's gonna be, so if you have pants, you're gonna have less germs."

"Don't feel afraid to let a flight attendant know if you're feeling sick. So if you need food, water, or an air sickness bag, please feel free to let us know."

Following the viral video - which racked up more than one million views - one viewer joked: "Don't breath the air, it's recycled."

Another added: "Everyone laughed at me for wiping down my family's row before sat down - everything from the window, wall, trays, arm rests, back of chairs etc."
