Fleur East says BBC Strictly Come Dancing has been 'a blessing' for her marriage

Fleur East revealed that BBC Strictly Come Dancing has been a 'blessing' for her marriage as she appeared on ITV's Lorraine on Friday morning (December 9).

Fleur, who married French designer Marcel Badiane-Robin in 2019, was joined by dance partner Vito Coppola for a chat with Lorraine Kelly. The pair have made it through to the competition's semi-final, alongside Helen Skelton and Gorka Márquez, Hamza Yassin and Jowita Przystal, Molly Rainford and Carlos Gu and Will Mellor and Nancy Xu.

The next instalment of Strictly will air on Sunday December 11, instead of its usual Saturday night spot due to the FIFA World Cup, as England take on France from 7pm in the quarter-final. Strictly's results show will instead air on Monday December 12.

Fleur and Vito spoke to Lorraine about being in the bottom two three times, and how the singer had broken off her big toe nail as a rite of passage of becoming a 'proper dancer.' But she also rejected the idea of the Strictly curse, revealing that being part of Strictly had been 'a blessing' for her marriage.

Fleur told Lorraine: "Honestly, you know how they talk about the 'Strictly curse' or whatever, for me, it has been a blessing for my marriage. We have been together 12 years, he's [Fleur's husband] like best mates with him [Vito], texting him all the time.

"And when do you ever get a chance in your marriage to dress up differently every week, look really pretty for your husband every weekend?"

Lorraine agreed, adding: "You're absolutely right. Not that the fizz goes away - but it just makes it even more fizzy!" Fleur responded: "Oh yeah, there's more fizz," with a nod and a smile.

"Oh more fizz is good. I'm a big, big fan of that, absolutely!" Lorraine said. But Fleur did joke that she would be jealous of whoever Vito partners up with on the next series. "I'll be like - 'who's that?!' Who's she?" she quipped.
