Fleet of vintage Glasgow buses to run city centre circular parade next week

Glasgow will see some colour added to its streets thanks to a vintage bus parade which is to run through the city centre next week.

The 'Centre Circle Day' event is being put on by Glasgow Vintage Vehicle Trust next Saturday (October 24) to showcase and let the public see buses from their collection at Bridgeton Bus Garage.

Around 25 old buses are expected to take part in the circular route around the city centre and take in streets such as Argyle Street, Clyde Street, Queen Street, Sauchiehall Street and High Street.

Buses will pass every couple of minutes, with the spectator event taking place between 11am and 4pm - giving Glaswegians the chance to see the buses in motion in lieu of being able to hop on board.

The event will run on a circular route round the city centre in the spirit of the original Centre Circle service, which the The Greater Glasgow Passenger Transport Executive used to run back in the 1970s.

It ran clockwise and anti-clockwise and was numbered 77 and 88.

More details on the route will be published very soon along with information on vehicles taking part - check out the Glasgow Vintage Vehicle Trust website HERE for further updates.
