Five transfer deals Leeds United and Jesse Marsch can revisit in January

Clubs up and down the Premier League were able to breathe a sigh of relief when the summer transfer window slammed shut. However, despite a proactive start to the window, Leeds United supporters were left disappointed by the club's inability to bring in a striker during the summer.

That wasn't for the want of trying though. The Whites were linked with Charles de Ketelaere who signed for AC Milan, while a move for Bamba Dieng fell through on deadline day.

It's been a bright start to the campaign for Jesse Marsch's side, but an injury to Rodrigo and Patrick Bamford's poor record last season has left supporters concerned. The Leeds hierarchy had hoped to bring in Cody Gakpo with Andrea Radrizzani tweeting that the clubs were in talks.

With all of that in mind, Leeds Live has taken a look at some of the transfers that the Whites could revisit in January. Gakpo will no doubt be at the forefront of their minds having been linked with the Dutch attacking midfielder throughout the window.

His fine start to the season with PSV will only see interest in the winger increase. The Whites will need to act quickly to secure his services with a number of European club's reportedly keen.

Bamba Dieng's move to Elland Road collapsed on deadline day and would turn into one of the sagas of the day. It's not believed the Whites are in contact with his representatives after the move broke down at the eleventh hour, before the forward when failed a medical at OGC Nice, but time will tell on that one.

Addressing their frailties up front will need to be a priority in January, even if Rodrigo returns to fitness, Bamford hits a purple patch and the club are able to fast track Wilfried Gnonto into the first team. It's been one of the weak points of the squad since their promotion and they could ignite an interest in Watford striker Joao Pedro.

Newcastle United were strongly linked with the Brazilian, with Marsch's reportedly keen. Fellow Brazilian Pedro , from Flamengo, was also on Leeds hitlist according to reports.

The 25-year-old notched his second hat-trick of the season to take his tally to 23 goals and nine assists from 50 appearances. He's spent the majority of his career in his native homeland, with a brief spell at Fiorentina sandwiched in between.

Defender John Egan was also linked with a move to Elland Road from Yorkshire rivals Sheffield United. The Whites are not short of options at centre-half but they do need a left-back. West Ham United have also been linked with the Republic of Ireland international.
