Five members of staff and three residents at a Sunderland care home have tested positive for coronavirus.
All staff at Park Lodge, in Roker, are now self-isolating at home, with the residents self-isolating in the home.
Operated by Swanton Care, the home provides 24/7 care and support to six adults with learning disabilities, autism, epilepsy and challenging behaviour.
A Swanton Care spokesman said one person is exhibiting “very mild symptoms” while the others are asymptomatic.
He said: “We can confirm that three people we support, and five colleagues, at Park Lodge have tested positive for coronavirus disease during routine testing.
“All staff members are now self-isolating at home in accordance with the latest guidance from Public Health England.
“The three residents are being supported to self-isolate in the home.
"One individual is exhibiting very mild symptoms, the others are presenting as asymptomatic.
“We will continue to follow the strictest infection control protocols at the home including proper hand-washing techniques, social distancing and the use of appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.
“Our colleagues are working hard through this unprecedented time and we are grateful for their dedication in the service of the people we support.”
It comes after a "small number of residents and staff" at Rosewood House, in Gateshead, tested positive for the virus, with Bensham care home, Armstrong House, also confirming 21 cases - including 15 residents.
