After quitting the Firm and moving to America to start a new life, Prince Harry 's relationships with some of the royals have been rocky.
And the bond with his dad Prince Charles is one that has especially felt the strain of late.
Last year, in his bombshell interview with Oprah Winfrey, Harry accused his dad of cutting him off financially and not taking his calls.
In addition, Harry has also appeared on the Apple TV series The Me You Can't See, where he spoke about the royals' "total neglect" and the Armchair Expert podcast, where he lashed out at Charles's parenting.
And just last month, one report claimed relations between the pair were at 'rock bottom' and that they were barely speaking.

However, with the turn of the year, there have been claims of several olive branches, which appear to show that their icy relationship may be starting to thaw...
Father's pride
One of the first signs that Harry and Charles' relationship could be improving was just days into the New Year.
It came in an essay that Charles wrote for Newsweek, where he issued a call for urgent action to save the environment.
In the piece, he praised both Prince William and Harry for their work in raising awareness of the issue.

Months earlier, at her speech at the Cop26 climate change summit in Glasgow in November, the Queen name-checked both Charles and William for their work in saving the environment, but there was no mention of Harry.
However, in the essay, Charles spoke about how he was proud of both William and Harry for having "recognised the threat" of climate change.
He said: "Most recently, my elder son, William, launched the prestigious Earthshot Prize to incentivise change and help repair our planet over the next ten years by identifying and investing in the technologies that can make a difference.
"And my younger son, Harry, has passionately highlighted the impact of climate change, especially in relation to Africa, and committed his charity to being net-zero."
Enjoyable video calls

Shortly after the Newsweek essay was released, the Mirror revealed that Charles had held several “good-natured and enjoyable” video calls with Harry.
Sources close to Charles said that despite reports of the two not speaking, Charles and Harry have been on “a journey of rediscovery” in terms of their relationship.
One said: “The Prince of Wales has spoken to his son frequently in recent months.
"He loves him very much, as he does both his children, and he looks forward to them being able to spend time together in the near future.”
Missing grandchildren

And not only does it appear that Charles is missing his son and daughter-in-law Meghan, he is also desperate to see their children.
Charles hasn't seen two-year-old Archie since the family moved to California and he is yet to meet his seven-month-old granddaughter Lilibet.
One source said: “The Prince of Wales has been saddened that he hasn’t had the opportunity to spend time with his grandchildren, which he really does miss.
“He is a fantastic grandfather and loves playing the role immensely and it’s certainly fair to say he feels there is something missing from his life without the ability to get to know Harry’s children."
Invitation to stay

Meanwhile, another olive branch Charles has extended to his youngest son is an invitation to stay with him when he and his family next visit the UK.
The offer of bringing the family together for the first time since Harry and Meghan decided to quit their royal roles and set up home in California was made by the heir in the lead up to Christmas, it is understood.
But Charles’s good-natured plan, in an attempt to heal the rift between him and his son, has been thrown into doubt after Harry suggested a return would come at “too great a personal risk” due to his security situation.

Harry claims he is “unable to return home” after a decision following his exit from the royal family stripped him of his right to personal security provided by the Met Police.
He has since decided to sue the British government by applying for a judicial review against the decision, which could see him face the Home Office at the court.
Meanwhile, a report today suggests Charles' invitation comes amid fears over what Harry's memoir, due out this year, will say about Camilla, the Duchess of Cornwall.
Those fears are said to revolve around "Harry's recollections of Camilla's entry into the Royal Family" and how her romance with his father "damaged him from a young age."
Secret talks
However, it's also said that Harry himself "reached out" to his dad with the pair having secret talks to heal their rift before the Queen's Platinum Jubilee celebrations.
A royal insider told the Sun : “There has been a definite thaw in relations between Harry and Charles. They are on much better terms and have been having friendly chats and video calls.
“It has been suggested to Harry he may live to regret any lingering family bitterness, and he has taken that on board.
“There is a feeling he is coming back more into the fold and wants to be closer to his family.”
