One man was killed and four others were injured in a pair of shootings on Sunday, including one which took place at a party on the University of Illinois campus.
"Our preliminary investigation completely points to an argument taking place at the party and the argument spilled out into the street and that's when a fight occurred," Champaign police spokesperson LaEisha Meaderds told The Associated Press.
It's currently unclear why the fight took place.
Champaign Mayor Deborah Frank Feinen announced that city and university police are pursuing all leads to hunt down the suspect.
"This type of senseless gun violence is unacceptable in our community," the mayor said on Facebook.
