TAMPA, Fla. _ Five people were killed Monday in two unrelated shootings in Tampa, police are reporting.
Tampa police are investigating both shootings but haven't released many details on either. Police have said neither appears to be a random event and there didn't appear to be a threat to other people in either case. One of the shootings appears to be a double murder suicide.
The first shooting occurred about 2:30 p.m. along the 8400 block of N Orleans Avenue. Officers investigating the shooting found man in his 60s and a woman in her 50s, both dead.
A third man was found wounded and was initially reported to be in stable condition at a local hospital.
Resident Dadeon Lee told our partners at Bay News 9 that he was at home doing yard work when he realized what was happening.
"I just heard 'POW! POW! and I'm like, 'that's a gunshot' and I'm like, 'that's real close, let me go check on my neighbor and see if he's alright,'" Lee said.
That's when Lee said he found that neighbor on the ground injured.
"Don't nobody want to hear of somebody getting shot," Lee said. "This is mindblowing."
The second shooting occurred about 5:45 p.m. at the Morgan Creek Apartments, 17200 Madison Green Drive. Three people were found shot dead Monday evening in what may be an act of domestic violence, police said.
Two of the deceased are men and one is a woman.
"Early investigation suggests that one adult male shot both the other adult male and the adult female, before shooting and killing himself," police said in a news release Tuesday morning.
Investigators have identified the victims in both cases but police are not releasing names because of Marsy's Law.
