Five Guys is coming to Bridgend

It's been confirmed. From Arlington, Virginia to south Wales... American fast food restaurant Five Guys has now set its sights on a new corner of the world; Bridgend.

It has been confirmed that the famous burger and fries joint is now set to open at McArthurGlen Designer Outlet in the town, although an opening date has not yet been revealed. There are currently only four other Five Guys restaurants in Wales, with three in Cardiff and one in Swansea.

And the newest restaurant is expected to follow in the footsteps of the pre-existing branches by being highly popular. In terms of what people can expect at the new restaurant, there will be thousands of possible topping combinations for people's burgers, hot dogs and sandwiches, as well as hundreds of different shake mix-in combinations and fries which are 'boardwalk style' fry.

We caught up a PR representative working for both McArthurGlen and Five Guys to find out more about Bridgend's latest addition. She said: "Five Guys is present in most of the McArthurGlen Designer Outlets and this one was a long project in the making because a lot of Welsh foodies are actually huge fans of Five Guys.

"We've done some research and one of the main motivators for people going to Five Guys is for when they've had a long day out shopping and they want to treat themselves to something that's really fresh but also very decadent. I recently visited the Swindon outlet and the Five Guys there was absolutely packed.

"There was a lot of people with like four or five bags around them so they'd clearly stopped there for a shopping break so I think that's the main appeal and why people are so excited to have that.

"In previous openings for similar restaurants, people have been eager to check it out and see what Five Guys has to offer. I kid you not, 11 o' clock, they'd open the doors and customers were coming in so I expect that to be the case for the opening day at Bridgend- it's been the case for every single restaurant really"

Anticipation has been building for a while about adding a Five Guys to Bridgend. Bridgend County Borough Council received a planning application to turn the former GAP store at McArthurGlen designer outlet village in Bridgend into a Five Guys back in May, 2022, which was among 81 GAP stores in the UK that closed last year.

People have even been asking for Five Guys to be added to the town long before any rumours were confirmed. In 2018, one Twitter user wrote: "Can Five Guys come to Bridgend pls? Preferably close to where I work?"
