NAGPUR: Vidarbha allrounder Harsh Dubey grabbed his biggest wicket so far in the Chennai league when he castled big-fish Hanuma Vihari of Nelson Sports Club on Sunday. The left-arm spinner Dubey opened his account by sending India Test batter - Vihari - back when he was on 99. He went on to claim a match-defining 5-wicket haul for Mylapore Recreation Club-A.
It was Harsh's allround show, a crucial 64-run knock a day before, and his five-wicket show that helped Mylapore outfit secure a lead on the last day of the 2-day fixture. It was the 19-year-old's third five-wicket haul in five matches. He has grabbed 19 wickets so far which keeps him in top-10 wicket-takers of the meet.
Dubey is impressing VCA officials with his consistent performance in the 1st division Raja of Palayampatti Shield, popularly known as Chennai league. "Dubey is in such a form that you give him a challenge and he will deliver for you. The wicket of Vihari on Sunday and his eye-catching five wickets against Jolly Rovers side that has all big names, speak for his calibre," said a former VCA player turned official.
Mylapore were defending 387 runs for lead against Vihari-led Nelson Sports Club. The skipper Vihari (99 off 144) was going strong when other batters struggled. But Dubey stalled Vihari's controlled innings by crashing his gate. Post that, the rest of the Nelson outfit failed to deal with Dubey and the latter sealed their fate.
