Five East Lothian antisocial hotspots patrolled by police on quad bikes after complaints

Police in East Lothian have been patrolling some of the area's anti-social hotspots on quad bikes.

Community officers visited five areas within Haddington on Saturday following complaints from members of the public about youth disorder. They say Neilson Park, Knox playing fields, Lady Kitty's, Whittinghame Drive and the town centre are among their priority areas.

Various members of the public were warned about the consumption of alcohol in public places, while small groups of youths were spoken to throughout the evening. None of these were engaging in anti-social behaviour.

East Lothian police shared news of the activity, adding: "Community officers utilised the East Lothian Council funded quad bikes to carry out patrols at identified hotspots within Haddington.

"Sporadic complaints have continued regrading anti-social behaviour within Neilson Park, Knox playing fields, Lady Kitty's, Whittinghame Drive and the town centre.

"The quad bikes allow officers to quickly move between areas, easily accessing these, allowing focused patrolling and the targeting of problem areas.

"The officers engaged with a number of small groups of youths at various locations throughout the evening, however none of these were engaging in ASB.

"Officers did, however, have to warn a number members of the public in relation to the prohibition on consuming alcohol in public places."
