RAEBARELI: In a tragic incident, five children aged 8-12 years lost their lives while trying to save one of them from drowning in a pond on Saturday afternoon in Gadaganj area of Uttar Pradesh's Raebareli district.
Superintendent of Police Alok Priyadarshi said that the children had gone for a bath and were playing in the water when one of them started drowning. The others tried to rescue the child but they too drowned.
Some locals who rushed to the site were able to save three children.
The deceased were identified as Reetu (8), Sonam (10), Vaishali (12), Rupali (9) and Amit (8), the police said.
