Fisker Unveils All-Electric Pickup Truck

After years of missed deadlines and fruitless predictions, Tesla's highly anticipated Cybertruck has finally entered production. Though the truck is starting to roll off the assembly line, (TSLA) -) will likely be catching up on reservations for a while. Tesla chief Elon Musk said in 2019 that the Cybertruck had garnered some 187,000 orders.

The model is purposefully designed to be different from its potential competition. Its alien design was influenced by a series of movies, including the 1977 James Bond film "The Spy Who Loved Me" which features a water-capable Lotus.

DON'T MISS: Tesla Rival Fisker Unveils Its Luxury Sports Electric Vehicle

Though Tesla has done a lot of work to revolutionize and lead the EV market, the company was not the first-to-market when it comes to an electric pickup. The Rivian R1T became the first full-electric pickup truck to hit the market, boasting a range of 328 miles and a $75,000 price tag. Ford followed with its F-150 Lightning, which now starts at around $50,000.

And now another EV rival -- Fisker (FSR) -) -- is jumping on board the electric truck train. Fisker unveiled a series of new models at its first-ever Product Vision day August 3. Featured prominently in the line-up was the Fisker Alaska, an all-electric four-door pickup truck.

The truck, with a range of 230-340 miles, starts at $45,400 before incentives. The four-and-a-half-foot-long bed can extend to around seven feet. Fisker said the truck -- which was designed to be the "world's lightest EV pickup truck" -- will be available in the first quarter of 2024, with deliveries set to begin in 2025.

Fisker also unveiled a cheap, compact EV called the PEAR, which will start at $29,900 and be available in 2025.

More Tesla:

“Innovation and sustainability, along with design, are our three brand values,” Henrik Fisker said. “By 2027, we intend to produce the world’s first climate-neutral vehicle, and as our customers reinvent their relationships with mobility, we want to be a leader in software-defined transportation.”

The company's stock fell around 7% on the morning of August 4.
