Paul Heyfron died after an assault in a shop - (Met Police)

Police have released an image of a man who died after being attacked in a shop in East Finchley as a suspect is questioned by police on suspicion of murder.

53-year-old Paul Heyfron died in hospital 12 days after an assault on him inside an off licence on Brook Walk in the north London neighbourhood.

Detectives arrested a 30-year-old man on suspicion of murder at an address in Lewisham, southeast London, on Friday.

A woman, aged 47, was also arrested at the same location on suspicion of assisting an offender.

Both are currently in custody at a London police station.

Mr Heyfron died in hospital on Sunday, 12 July after he was rushed to hospital on Monday, 30 June following the assault.

Paul had been punched to the ground while the owner intervened in the attack, sustaining his own injuries, the Sun reported.

He then administered CPR after Paul lost consciousness.

The victim’s family continue to be supported by specialist officers.

Detective Inspector Jon Moseling, the Senior Investigating Officer said: “Our thoughts remain with Paul’s family and friends at this extremely difficult time.

“This is a significant update in our investigation, however our enquiries continue to establish the circumstances of this tragic incident.
