First Minister Nicola Sturgeon praises Scotland star

First Minister Nicola Sturgeon has praised Scotland following their 0-0 European Championships draw with England on Friday night, saying it's a team full of role models for the next generation.

But she singled out Motherwell star Stephen O'Donnell in particular, for the way he handled himself in a BBC interview after the match.

The 29-year-old left-back came in for some heavy criticism following the 2-0 defeat against the Czech Republic on Monday but responded with a towering performance against England at Wembley.

Ms Sturgeon took to social media to praise the team, including a clip of O'Donnell's interview with the BBC.

She said: "This Scotland team has so many role models who will inspire the next generation, on and off the pitch - and Stephen O'Donnell is one of them.

"This is so articulate on dealing with pressure, the importance of self belief and having the support of these around you."
