First look: Glasgow Finnieston's own Scandi-inspired outdoor Winter Village opens

Cranside Kitchen's Winter Village has officially opened, with the Finnieston space transformed into a Scandi-inspired Winter experience with plenty of fun food and drink options.

From November 25 until New Year's Eve, guests can enjoy a top selection of independent street food vendors, drinks, and live entertainment including music, a comedy club, and a festive party night.

Festive garlands and frost-effect foliage, fairy lights, mini Scandi-style decorated Christmas trees and heater stands to keep the Glasgow Winter chill at bay, as well as a giant Christmas tree all go towards helping to make the Cranside Kitchen ideal for festive family fun.

Speaking about the winter transformation, Cranside's General Manager John Daddow said: "With festive fun for all, Cranside Winter Village is the place to eat and drink this Christmas.

"There is something for everyone, whether you're looking for a smaller, cosier evening with a hot cider outdoors or indoors for pizza, eager to catch the World Cup screenings with a beer, or choosing to have a big party and renting the entire site.

"This year's transformation is our best yet. We have not only increased our capacity and food offering, but we have also added some cool features, such as our collaboration with Kopparberg to transform a section of Cranside into a Swedish Forest, complete with Yurts for dining and Ski Gondolas for drinks parties".

Guests can hire one of Cranside's Swedish Forest Yurts – bespoke private huts for up to 8 guests where they can enjoy comfy seating and warm rugs – or the private Kopparberg Ski Gondola, a trendy capsule that seats six people and has been customised with fresh upholstery and subtle lighting for warmth and comfort - with hot cider on tap.

Foodies can enjoy a choice of up to seven restaurants available on the Cranside app including Romanos, Halloumi, and Asian street food brand XI'AN and two new festive-inspired food market stalls offering Hog Roasts every weekend, Bratwurst and Gluhwein.

While, for the first time, Smokey Goodness will offer Glasgow's first Winter BBQ serving meaty, steak, wings, burgers and grilled vegetables.

There will also be a variety of live entertainment with resident DJs playing disco and club classics every weekend as well as Christmas comedy night and party nights open until 2 am, as well as the rooftop Cocktail and Whisky Bar, World Cup screenings, and comedy nights throughout December.

The team added that those not quite brave enough to face the cold, can enjoy the Hygge Lounge which offers an enclosed space and a cosy atmosphere, fully undercover for a sheltered night out with heaters and blankets to keep them warm.

Cranside Winter Village is open daily from 12pm until late daily at 28 Tunnel St, Glasgow, G3 8HL from Friday 25th November 2022 until Sunday 1st January 2023.
