First look at the Liverpool Eurovision Song Contest stage

First-look images of how the 2023 Eurovision Song Contest stage is set to look have been revealed.

The BBC has released a first look at the Eurovision stage designed by New York design firm Yellow Studio. The mock-ups come ahead of the highly anticipated event in Liverpool, with the Grand Final of the Contest taking place Saturday 13 May.

Yellow Studio has joined the team as the set designers to help create, design, and deliver the large-scale and spectacular show to a global audience of over 160 million.

The team says it has incorporated the uniqueness of this year’s contest into the 220 square metres of staging. The architecture takes inspiration from a wide hug that enfolds the Liverpool Arena – from above and below – opening its arms to Ukraine, and the show’s performers and guests from across the world.

The design covers the arena floor, connecting the stage, performers, audience, and green room as one structure.

Yellow Studio specialise in production design, creative direction and art direction for television and live events.

Julio Himede, director of Yellow Studio said: “It’s a wonderful honour to be collaborating with the BBC and the production team to design this year’s Eurovision Song Contest set. This year’s contest unites Ukraine and the UK to celebrate the unique cultures of both”.

The 67th Eurovision Song Contest will be held in Liverpool, with the Grand Final of the Contest taking place on Saturday, May 13 2023.
