First Halloween trailer shows Michael Myers and Jamie Lee Curtis' Laurie face off once again

Jamie Lee Curtis has revived her most famous role.

Yes, not only is Halloween back, not only is Michael Myers back - but so is Curtis' Laurie, the babysitter who proved the ultimate survivor after evading the masked killer that stalked her hometown on Halloween night four decades ago.

The film acts as a direct sequel, with Nick Castle another returning cast member, playing Michael Myers for the first time since the 1978 original, though with an aim to carve "a new path" for the franchise.

The film is directed by David Gordon Green, who also penned the script with Danny McBride: a creative duo best known for comedies Your Highness and Pineapple Express.

However, it appears Halloween is still going straight for the scares. Coming from Universal Pictures and horror house Blumhouse Productions, who were behind last year's Academy Award-winning Get Out, the film sees John Carpenter also back to executive produce and serve as a creative consultant on the film.

Halloween hits UK cinemas 19 October.
