First Bus step in to offer new service in West Lothian

A bus firm has announced it will take over a route between North Lanarkshire and West Lothian.

Following the recent announcement by Blue Bus that it would be removing its 701 service as of December 21, First Bus has stepped in take over the route from Shotts to Whitburn.

Their new service will be in operation from December 23 and customers will also be able to travel onto Edinburgh, by changing at Whitburn.

Andrew Jarvis, managing director of First Bus in Scotland, said: “Taking over this route from Blue Bus made total sense. As an operator that seeks to connect up communities in Scotland, this move will ensure that those living in towns along the 701 route will be able to continue travelling by bus for their business and leisure needs.”

Passengers in Shotts can also use First Glasgow tickets on the 701 service for ease of use.
