Firewater on Sauchiehall Street offering free lunch for Glaswegians in need

A Glasgow bar is offering free meals to Glaswegians in need today at lunchtime.

Firewater in Sauchiehall Street is opening its doors to hard-up people in the city today for pizza and soft drinks.

The venue shared its appeal on social media as it said they believe in the power of community amid "continuing hard times and general social difficulty" during the pandemic.

"Whether you're skipping a meal on a tight budget or just haven't enjoyed anything nice in a while, please come by between 12-3pm for a house pizza on us."

Firewater boss Pat Hynes penned an open letter to the Scottish Government after licensed hospitality venues were forced to close last month. Those in Tier 3 are now allowed to open for food and non-alcoholic drinks until 6pm.

You can find Firewater at 341 Sauchiehall Street. Follow them on Facebook.
