Firefighters tackle blaze at Ed Sheeran's £1.5 million country home

Fire crews were called to Ed Sheeran’s country estate this morning to tackle a blaze at one of the singer’s properties.

Local Fire and Rescue Service received a call shortly after 7.30am reporting a “small building fire” at the property in Suffolk.

The 27-year-old owns four homes next to each other near the village of Framlingham, which are thought to be worth around £1.5 million. He bought the first property in June 2012.

Locals have reportedly nicknamed the area as ‘Sheeran-ville’ because the musician owns such a significant amount of property there.

Fire: the flames were extinguished quickly (Handout)

A fire service spokesperson said that three crews were able to extinguish the fire “quickly” but did not confirm the cause of the fire.

“Suffolk firefighters were called to a small building fire at 7.33am this morning,” a statement read.

“Three engines were sent to the incident, from Framlingham, Saxmundham and Halesworth.

“Crews extinguished the fire quickly and then ventilated the area of heavy smoke.

“The incident was closed at 8.55am.”

The spokesperson revealed that two firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used a hose reel jet to extinguish the flames. A positive pressure ventilation system was then used to rid the building of smoke.

They added that no one was injured in the incident.

Standard Online has contacted Sheeran’s representatives for comment.

The singer unveiled plans for major outdoor renovations to his properties earlier this year, including a walled kitchen garden, a £21,450 greenhouse and a raised platform for a hot tub.

Last year, Sheeran submitted a planning application to build a 32 foot chapel in his garden, which was eventually rejected after the local council said that the development would "conflict with the prevailing character of the landscape."
