Firefighters race to Perth flats where man’s body was discovered as police continue probe

Firefighters have been called to a block of flats in Perth where the body of a man was discovered after allegedly being attacked with a hammer.

Two appliances from the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service raced to the scene on Scott Street at around 4.30pm on Wednesday.

Police officers remain at the scene after the body of a man, named locally as Ian Menzies, was discovered within a ground floor property on Monday night.

A spokesperson for the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service confirmed they have been called following ‘reports of smoke inside the building’.
