Blaze contained at electric scooter charging facility

ACT police and firefighters spent much of Sunday in Fyshwick, after a large fire at an electric scooter battery charging facility broke out in the morning.

Large plumes of heavy smoke could be seen emanating throughout Fyshwick from the Geelong Street blaze.

Firefighters were able to successfully extinguish the fire early in the afternoon.

The street was still closed and people are being asked to avoid the area as emergency services clear the scene, late in the day.

Firefighters will conduct further safety investigations and will stay to monitor the batteries.
