Fire-starters have hit the heart of Paisley on consecutive nights, sparking a major police operation.
Fortunately nobody was hurt in the latest blaze, started inside an empty flat.
The fire in Orchard Street was put out by fire teams as light dimmed on Thursday night.
It followed a blaze close to midnight on Wednesday just a block away in Forbes Place.
That three-storey building was derelict and damage was described as "significant".
Police are now hunting the firebugs and are appealing for the public's help.
They say the latest blaze was deliberate and began in a storage area within the Orchard Street flat.
Emergency crews were called around 10,30pm on Thursday night.
Detective Constable Gary Bruce, of Paisley CID, said: “There are a number of derelict properties in this part of the town and vandalism and fire setting is becoming a problem.
“This kind of behaviour will not be tolerated. In this instance someone has entered the empty property and started a fire on the first floor inside a storage cupboard. Fortunately no one was injured but this could have been much more serious if it had not been put out quickly.
“We would like to speak to anyone who saw anything suspicious around the time of this incident, and we are also keen to speak to anyone who may have been driving in the area and has dash-cam footage that might assist with our enquiries.
“If you can help please call us on 101, quoting incident 3183 of Thursday, 24 June, or make a call anonymously to the charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
