Fire service warns people to close windows amid east London large industrial fire

The London Fire Brigade (LFB) were called to a large fire at an industrial estate in east London on Saturday morning.

Eight fire engines and approximately 60 firefighters attended the blaze at the estate on Marsh Way, Rainham which was reported about 8.20am on Saturday.

The LFB said that half of the first floor of the two storey building had caught fire and was billowiong large amounts of smoke into the sky.

Station Commander Alan Bendell advised all local residents to close windows and doors such was the amount of “heavy smoke” billowing from the building.

The fire was brought under control at 10.35am, the LFB said.

The cause of the fire is unknown but crews from Wennington, Dagenham, Barking, East Ham and surrounding fire stations were in attendance.
