Fire service called to Bristol street to help get patient into ambulance

Emergency services were called to a Bristol street this afternoon to help get a casualty out of a building and into an ambulance.

The fire service was called to Ashley Down Road to help in what was described as a bariatric incident, which often involves people who are very overweight.

Crews helped the male patient into an ambulance waiting outside.

Photos showed a number of fire service vehicles at the location, as well as an ambulance.

A spokesman for Avon Fire and Rescue Service said: "We were called to a bariatric incident today at 12:35 on Ashley Down Road.

"Crews from Temple assisted a male casualty out of the building using bariatric equipment and he has now been transferred to hospital by ambulance crews."

The residential road is near the Bristol County Cricket stadium in the Ashley Downs area of the city.

Police said they were made aware of the incident.
