PUNE: A Shivshahi bus belonging to the Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC)’s Pune division caught fire on the Pune-Satara highway on Monday afternoon.
According to MSRTC officials, the bus, which belonged to the Swargate depot, was on its way to Pune from Sangli. “The fire took place due to a short circuit around 4pm. Altogether, there were 40 passengers on the bus when the fire started. Fortunately, there were no injuries or casualties,” an MSRTC official in Pune told TOI.
The bus driver noticed a spark and asked all the passengers to disembark. No sooner did the passengers get out, the blaze spread and gutted the vehicle. All the belongings of the passengers were burnt in the fire, officials said.
