Fire fighters rush to Hamilton flat after reports of a blaze

Emergency services rushed to a flat in Hamilton last night following reports of a blaze.

Four fire appliances attended the scene in Burnbank.

A spokesman said: “The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service was alerted at 9.25pm on Sunday, September 8, to reports of a fire within a block of flats on Hill Street, Hamilton.

“Operations Control mobilised four fire appliances to the scene where crews in breathing apparatus extinguished the flames.

“One person was taken to hospital for treatment.

“A joint investigation into the cause will be held with Police Scotland.

“Crews left after ensuring the area was made safe.”
