Fire crews tackle Kingswood warehouse blaze as video captures dramatic scenes

Fire crews from Avon Fire and Rescue Service were called to a building fire following local reports at around 12.20am (January 24) in Kingswood.

On arrival, the two crews from Kingswood and Temple found a fire that involved a "large amount of tyres and rubbish" to the rear of the warehouse building, which is on Moravian Road.

Local footage shows a thick blanket of smoke pouring skywards from what appears to be a large pile of rubbish that has been set alight. Firefighters are on the scene, and the video also shows a fire engine manoeuvring itself closer to the inferno in order to successfully extinguish it.

Fire crews believe the fire to have been started deliberately. A spokesperson for Avon Fire and Rescue Service said: "With six firefighters wearing breathing apparatus, crews used two high pressure hose reels and one 45mm jet to extinguish the fire.

"Also in use were thermal imaging cameras to check for fire spread and gas monitors to ensure the scene was safe. The cause of the fire is thought to have been deliberate."

This is not the first time there has been a fire in the area, as fire crews rushed to the scene of a fire on Christmas Eve last year (2022). Local residents at the time were advised to "shut their windows".

The result of the December fire was some damage to the top of the building as a result of the blaze. It is unclear as of yet whether this morning's fire (January 24) has caused any significant damage.
