Scots fire crews were forced to smash through a window to break free a dog trapped inside in a car as temperatures rose.
A fire engine raced to Asda Edinburgh Supercentre carpark in the capital at around midday on July 17, reports Edinburgh Live.
It's understood a panicked owner had accidentally locked their pet inside the car.
The incident happened on one of the hottest days of the year so far in Scotland as the country sizzled in temperatures above 20 degrees.
A Scottish Fire and Rescue spokesperson confirmed the desperate owner had called for help after they left their keys in the car and couldn’t get back in.
When crews arrived on the scene the car was still running and a window had to be smashed to rescue the dog and retrieve the keys.
An eyewitness said: “It was right outside the front door of Asda.
“I don’t know where the owner of the car was.
“They’d smashed the driver's side window and a fire engine was there and lots of firemen.
“One was sweeping up the glass.
“A couple of people were looking on. Something was going on, there was definitely a commotion.”
The dog is understood to have been safely rescued.
